The Breathe Through Option
Chair mats create a great surface to roll on, but when a chair mat is placed on a carpeted area, where the concrete under the carpet was not properly sealed or has no moisture barrier, you have the potential for a serious problem. This problem also arises when the air conditions are very humid. The moisture under the mat is trapped, it has no way to escape so it sits under the chair mat until mold starts to grow. The carpet itself will become discolored and eventually have to be replaced. This situation could be very unhealthy and expensive.
The breathe through process produces a chair mat with perforations which allow the moisture to escape while maintaining a smooth surface to roll on.
The Beveled Edge Option
A beveled edge can be useful when you need to transition smoothly on or off a chair mat. It can also help to reduce the potential tripping hazard of a chair mat.
